  1. a condition in which two or more conditions exist in someone, whether or not they are connected
    Example He was admitted to hospital suffering from pneumonia with complications.
  2. a situation in which someone develops a second condition which changes the course of treatment for the first
    Example She appeared to be improving, but complications set in and she died in a few hours.
